How to Teach English Through the Audio-Lingual Method
The Audio-Lingual Method (ALM) focuses on listening, speaking, repetition, and drilling to develop accurate language habits. It is useful for practising pronunciation, grammar patterns, and automatic language production. Teachers typically move from modelling and repetition to controlled drills and then meaningful communication. Although effective for accuracy, excessive drilling can become mechanical, so it is best combined with communicative activities.
